I’m trying to prepare for a long hike along the AT. Some weekends I hike in the North Georgia Mountains. But sometimes I just strap on my loaded backpack and hike the eastside trail of the Atlanta Beltline. I can easily stop for a smoothie at Arden’s Garden on Monroe, an iced coffee at Parish or use the restrooms at Piedmont Park. Even grab lunch at Barcelona Wine Bar or dessert with King of Pops. I did all of them yesterday and logged 8+ miles. It’s a fairly flat walkway, being a former railroad track, so you can easily do a lot of miles. And it’s great to see all the improvements, construction and people actively using the trail.
